The recently concluded Gulf Bike Week held in the Festival City of Dubai was a blend of a number of blockbuster events. This annual event will soon become one of the biggest of the world. This event is organized for supporting the huge motorcycle market of the Middle East. The motorcycle market of this part of the world has a value of over $1.4billion. If measured in local currency, the value of the market would be Dh6.4 billion.
This motorcycle festival is arranged ‘Clarion Events Middle East’; they are partnered by Dubai Shopping Festival in this venture. The event was not only about looking at the displayed two wheelers; the motorcycle exhibition was accompanied with interesting stunt shows and enthralling riding activities. The Managing Director of the company organizing the event, Christopher Hudson said that the UAE’s bike market increases at least by 20% every year. He also recalled that when the Gulf Bike Week started 3 years ago, it was arranged in a small car park and only a single bike manufacturer took part in the event. Today, the event attracts over 40,000 visitors and includes performances by internationally famous stars. According to Hudson the Gulf Bike Week can be compared with any other urban festival that involves motorcycles and biking fanatics.
The 2011 event was held at an exhibition marquee having an area of 6.800 sq. m. 150 models from the world’s best bike manufacturers were showcased at the event. The list of exhibitors included big names like Ducati, Polaris, Honda, Liberty, KTM, Zoo York, Ed Hardy, Kawasaki and Harley-Davidson. Each of these manufacturers came with their best models. For most of the local visitors to the show it was the first time when they so many exciting bike models under the same roof.
The most fascinating bike showcased at the event was from Harley Davidson. Harley Davidson is a company known for producing bold and tenacious bikes; they stuck to their specialty at this event. They came with the 2011 Jumpstart. Other than this exciting model, Harley Davidson also exhibited other displayed some other popular bike models like the XL883N Iron883, the VRSCF VRod Muscle and the 48 Sportster. The management of Harley Davidson was impressed with the feedback they received from the visitors on their ‘Jumpstart’.
